Microneedling is one of the most trusted ways to improve the look and feel of your skin without lasers or downtime that disrupts your week. In a single visit, your registered nurse (RN) clinician uses a pen-style device to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. Your body responds by building fresh collagen and elastin, and over the following weeks the skin looks smoother, firmer and more even.

Microneedling (this page)
Needles only. It relies on the skin's own repair response, is well suited to texture, fine lines, pores and early sun damage, and usually involves a shorter recovery. Face from $299; face and neck is priced separately.

How It Works
Microneedling is also called collagen induction therapy. A sterile, single-use cartridge of very fine needles glides across the skin and creates tiny, controlled channels in the surface layers. These micro-channels are too small to scar, but the skin treats them as a signal to repair.

What to Expect
Here is what your microneedling visit looks like from start to finish.
Before Your Treatment
Your clinician reviews your skin, medications and goals at a short consultation. Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, waxing and sun exposure for several days before, and arrive with a clean face.
During Treatment
Numbing cream is applied and left to work, then the clinician treats the face (and neck if booked) in even passes. Most sessions take about 45 to 60 minutes including numbing. You may feel vibration and mild pressure.
After Treatment
A soothing serum and SPF are applied. Your skin will look pink, like a mild sunburn, for 24 to 48 hours. You can usually return to your normal routine the next day.
Aftercare
The first few days matter most. Follow your clinician's written instructions, and use these guidelines:

- Use a gentle cleanser and a simple moisturizer for the first days
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning
- Stay hydrated and keep your pillowcase clean
- Book your next session four to six weeks later
Avoid
- Retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days
- Makeup for the first 24 hours
- Strenuous exercise, saunas and hot tubs for 48 hours
- Direct sun exposure, picking or scrubbing the skin

The Treatment Device
Every session uses a medical-grade microneedling pen and a new, sterile, single-use needle cartridge. It is opened in front of you and discarded afterwards.

What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a pen-style device with a sterile, single-use cartridge of very fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The skin responds by repairing itself and building new collagen and elastin. At Maison Zolara it is performed by a licensed RN under medical supervision.
Is microneedling the same as RF microneedling?
No. Standard microneedling works with the needles alone, stimulating collagen through the skin's own repair response. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles to heat the deeper layers of the skin, which is why it is chosen for laxity, deeper acne scars and tightening. They are separate treatments with separate pricing; your clinician will recommend the right one for your goals.
Does it hurt?
A numbing cream is applied before treatment. Most clients describe a vibrating, scratchy sensation that is very manageable. The forehead, upper lip and jawline are usually the most sensitive areas.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients see the best results from a series of three sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart, with maintenance as needed. Skin keeps building collagen for weeks after each session, so results continue to develop.
What is the downtime?
Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, with some dryness or flaking over the next few days. Most clients return to normal activities the next day and wear makeup after 24 hours once your clinician says the skin is ready.

Who should not have microneedling?
Microneedling is not recommended over active acne breakouts, infections, cold sores, open wounds or sunburned skin, or during pregnancy. Tell your clinician about blood thinners, a tendency to keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin use, or any skin condition in the treatment area so they can advise you safely.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Microneedling is often paired with medical-grade serums, and your clinician can sequence it with other treatments such as peels or RF treatments on separate visits. We will build a plan around your skin at your consultation.
